cancer patientIn partnership with local faith communities and other cancer related organizations, Care Communities recruits and trains volunteers who each have had a cancer diagnosis or cared for a family member with cancer. After extensive training, Care Communities volunteers are matched with referrals according to cancer site, age, gender, and family situation. The volunteers offer free, one-on-one, long-term emotional support to cancer patients and their families.

In support of Care Communities, Grace currently has one Care Team, which is a group of 3-6 volunteers that share the efforts of providing companionship and support for a matched cancer patient.

The support that these volunteers provide can include child care, cooking, errands, grocery shopping, laundry, light house cleaning, limited transportation, pet care, respite care (caregiver support), or yard work. Duties do NOT include medical or physical care.
